KEEP OUR LOVED ONES ( A PHILLIPINE CHANT) by
Regina Fryxell
With text by Isabella Stephenson, this was arranged by Mrs. Fryxell upon hearing the cantus in 1940 at the village of Togoron, Ticao island, Philippines. At evening a religious procession passed through the village, the women carrying lighted candles and singing this tune. The words were a prayer of intercession; the only accompaniment was the roll of oceal breakers against the cliffs. Mrs. Fryxell has arranged this for a descant, C.F. solo (or unison) , a chant, and a choral accompaniment for TTBB. Large rolled chords in the piano simulate the ocean breakers. You will find this quite unusual.SATTBB/Piano VOR100C01 $1.35 |
